Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (WTS) is
the current evolution of what was formerly GE Water & Process
Technologies.
The corporate journey from GE Water to Veolia unfolded through a
multi-step acquisition history: 2017 (GE to Suez): General Electric sold
GE Water & Process Technologies to French environmental group Suez and
the Canadian pension fund CDPQ for 3.2 billion. Under Suez, the
business was operated as Suez Water Technologies & Solutions.
2022 (Suez to Veolia): Veolia completed a massive merger/takeover of Suez.
As part of this historic environmental sector acquisition, Veolia absorbed
Suezs industrial water wing, rebranding the unit to Veolia Water
Technologies & Solutions (WTS). CDPQ initially retained its 30% minority
stake. 2025 (Full Ownership): Veolia bought out CDPQs remaining 30%
minority stake for $1.75 billion, taking 100% full ownership of the WTS
global business unit.
Today, the heritage of the past GE Water platformincluding legacy
chemical treatments (like the old GE Betz lines), membranes, and reverse
osmosis technologieslives entirely under the global Veolia Water
Technologies & Solutions umbrella.
